Development, characterization, and integration of novel materials into micrometer-sized devices. Smart and/or adaptive materials for MEMS and different actuation mechanisms.
Major technological and scientific development is no longer based on the extension of current phenomena. Breakthroughs and game changing ideas are now a result of novel approaches, methodologies; but mainly, new materials. Embracing this philosophy, our group is focused on the development, characterization, and integration of materials that show particular advantages for different specific applications; particularly, down to the micrometer-sized level. More particularly, we are interested in smart and/or adaptive materials for MEMS and different actuation mechanisms. Currently, we are focused on phase change materials and future expansions will include oxide electronics.
