Prior to joining the Ph.D. program at MSU, he completed the Master degree in 2013 with a thesis on the heterogeneous catalysis, which was synthesizing and improving the performance of nano-gold/zeolite catalysts on the selective oxidation of propylene in the gas phase. He then spent a year on the Compulsory Military Service in Taiwan, where he worked as a second lieutenant in Army. After completing the military service, he joined the Chemical Engineering department at National Taiwan University in 2014, as teaching staff for the Unit Operation Laboratory for all the junior and senior college students. Hong-Kang joined MSCE group in 2015 and worked on the multi-scale simulation for the interfacial problems in all-solid-state Li-ion batteries, which he used Finite Element Analysis and Density Functional Theory calculation. In 2018 summer, he worked in BASF for an internship on the development of solid electrolytes for Ni-metal hydride batteries. In his spare time, he likes playing volleyball and cooking.
