Sandra's PhD centred around cardiac biomechanics, particularly emphasising Growth and Remodelling processes in the human myocardium influenced by disease progression, such as aortic stenosis or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or in response to intervention, as observed in aortic valve replacement. Her research involved leveraging patient-specific data to enhance understanding of both growth and reverse growth progression, and further examining their subsequent impact on the mechanical states of the developed tissue.
In the future, Sandra will investigate the development of a data-driven multiscale/multiphysics formulation to solve problems related to cardiovascular systems with a focus on cardiac resynchonisation therapy.
